INTEGRITY ENGINE · SYSTEM REFERENCE
3d8 Probability Calculator
Integrity Engine is a tabletop roleplaying system built around four Pillars, consequential actions, and the uncertainty of three eight-sided dice. Explore the probability of meeting a Target Number with a selected rating, then see how its underlying rules support very different settings.
FREE REFERENCE UTILITY
3d8 probability explorer
Select a Target Number and rating to explore all 512 possible 3d8 combinations.
This is a probability calculator, not a complete Trial simulator. It counts raw 3d8 plus one rating; it does not account for changing States, Edges, Grace, Disciplines, opposition, or other game-specific modifiers.
This free calculator belongs to the Integrity Engine rules and tools collection.
How does Integrity Engine's 3d8 system work?
Roll three eight-sided dice and add one applicable rating: a Skill where that framework uses Skills, or its associated Pillar. Compare the result with the Target Number. Three dice tend to produce results near the center of the range more often than extreme totals, making small modifiers consequential without making the outcome predetermined.
The probability explorer displays three cases separately: below the target, exactly equal to the target, and strictly above it. In Integrity Engine, meeting the target exactly can represent an Endured Success, a successful result that carries a cost. The headline odds include that equality result, so they are not the percentage of cost-free successes.
Four Pillars and a flexible game framework
Relationships, compassion, courage and human connection.
Belief, conviction, faith and meaning.
Awareness, reasoning, knowledge and judgment.
Physical exertion, endurance and decisive action.
These Pillars provide a common foundation while each game determines how its people are represented. Some settings work with Pillar-only methods; others add specialized Skills. The four Pillars and the three-die resolution remain the foundation of an Integrity Engine-compatible game.
States, Conditions and Pressure are different tools
Three positional State axes, Exposure, Stability, and Mobility, represent shifting circumstances during consequential Trials. Conditions describe ongoing consequences, while Pressure and Lasting Harm record more enduring strain tied to the Pillars. A setting may change their fictional presentation, but they should not be confused with optional campaign resource dials.
Where can Witnesses use Integrity Engine?
Warriors of the Covenant places characters within a biblically grounded historical world. Legacy of the Remnant explores faith and community under near-future institutional control. Integrity Forge offers free setting-specific creation tools for both. A separate Game Architect application for building custom worlds and supported rules variations is in development; it is not available for purchase from this page.
