THE WRITTEN RECORD

Sources & attribution

Provisional categories may describe several distinct biblical referents sharing one spelling (for instance a person, tribe, and region). Where supplied, Scripture links show the cited basis for each referent; further historical and contextual review is still required. No passage text is reproduced.

Names and source meanings derive from Hitchcock's Bible Names Dictionary by Roswell D. Hitchcock (1869; published in the 1874 edition of Hitchcock's New and Complete Analysis of the Holy Bible). The dictionary and the credited electronic text are in the public domain.

This free application includes original speculative-name generation for Legacy of the Remnant and reference-only Anchor Verse recommendations. No candidate Scripture passage is represented as an approved quotation. The name-generator website is intended as a free public resource with no account or payment requirement. Original application code, categorization, editorial notes, and interface are developed for Warriors of the Covenant by Open Almond Studios, LLC. The public-domain dictionary remains free for others to use. The copyright notice for this application concerns original site code, creative material, and editorial expression, not public-domain names or historical facts. Game and studio names, logos, and wordmarks are separately addressed in the studio’s brand and trademark guidance. Categories in this preview are provisional editorial assignments, not exhaustive scholarly findings. A separate open-source code license has not yet been selected.

Research sources and licenses

These resources inform provisional classification research. Compact source-linked STEP Bible and OpenBible evidence already contributes to the catalogue; the original upstream files and private dictionary worksheets are not distributed with the public generator.

STEP Bible — Translators Individualised Proper Names (TIPNR), CC BY 4.0. Used for named biblical referents, translation variants, and references. Categories remain provisional.

OpenBible.info Bible Geocoding Data — ancient place names and types, CC BY 4.0. Used for ancient geographic candidates and feature types. OpenStreetMap geometry and third-party images are excluded.

The historic Easton, Smith, Hastings, and Schaff Bible dictionaries contribute research evidence through the NEUU Bible Dictionary Dataset (CC BY 4.0). Matching dictionary entries do not independently verify Scripture references. No source provider is affiliated with or endorses Open Almond Studios.
