How to name a dystopian faction
Start with the organization's public purpose. State institutions may use reassuring words such as continuity, harmony, or public assurance even when their actions impose coercion. Rival groups and clandestine networks may instead draw on place, shared history, or a symbol important to their members. The contrast should arise from the setting, not from a formula that brands every group evil.
Opposition is more than an enemy to defeat
In a tabletop story, an opposing faction can challenge a community through permits, conflicting claims, ration access, misinformation, or competing obligations. The existing generator supplies both a fictional name and a conflict hook so the Witness can turn the idea into a scene.
Using resistance and institutional groups responsibly
